Chunk Foods taking plant-based meat to the next level


Our partner, Chunk Foods, a manufacturer of plant-based products that replicate whole cuts of meat, is focused on expanding its operations.

Chunk Foods sets itself apart by offering more than just basic plant-based versions of burgers, chicken nuggets, or hot dogs. The company’s product range includes a 4-ounce steak, a 6-ounce steakhouse cut, and a pulled meat product. These products are made from cultured soy, wheat protein, and fortified with B12 and iron.

According to Amos Golan, founder and CEO of Chunk Foods, “What we’ve been able to do is create a product that’s structured. It resembles muscle tissue with the ‘fibrosity’ of a steak, the juiciness of steak, the structure, the color, the flavor. It’s a very well-defined texture while still maintaining clean label ingredients.”

Recently, the company secured $7.5 million in seed funding, with Cheyenne Ventures leading the round. This brings Chunk’s total funding to $22 million. Additionally, Chunk partnered with Better Balance, known for its plant-based meat and dairy products made from pea and soy protein, to create a new line of plant-based whole cut meats. As part of this collaboration, the co-branded products will be accessible for foodservice in Mexico.
