US-based food tech startup Chunk Foods has earned the Ketogenic Certified label for its whole-cut vegan steaks, aligning with a growing dietary trend. The company is also focusing on global expansion.
Chunk Foods’ retail lineup, launched in October, now features the Ketogenic Certified logo on its packaging. The range includes steaks, steakhouse cuts, slabs, and pulled products, each offering 25-31g of protein and up to 6g of carbs, primarily from fiber.
The company claims this marks the first keto certification for a plant-based whole-cut product. With this distinction, Chunk Foods aims to tap into the $12.5 billion ketogenic diet market. The ketogenic diet emphasizes higher protein and fat intake with minimal carbohydrates, inducing a state of ketosis, where the body burns fat for energy instead of glucose.
