An Israeli startup has entered into an investment and collaboration agreement with a global partner, indicating a growing interest in plant-based alternatives. Chunk Foods, an Israeli plant-based meat startup established in 2020, has announced a partnership with Better Balance, a plant-based product manufacturer active in Spain and Mexico, to develop a new range of plant-based, whole-cut “meats.”

Based in Tel Aviv, Chunk Foods has made its co-branded products with Better Balance available for foodservice in Mexico. CEO and founder Amos Golan expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “Together with Better Balance, we are elevating the plant-based category with innovative, delicious products that cater to the vibrant tastes and lifestyles of Mexico.”

In addition to the collaboration with Better Balance, Chunk Foods has secured $7.5 million in seed funding led by Cheyenne Ventures, bringing its total seed round to $22 million. Last spring, the company completed the largest seed funding round ever for an Israeli plant-based protein company, raising $15 million. Investors in this funding round included Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr.’s company FootPrint Coalition, Fall Line Capital, The MIT E14 fund, and others.
